Walton Casuals officially opened their new ground today.
Casuals, who played their first match at the Xcel Sports Hub last weekend when they drew 1-1 with Horsham, before going back to the top of the South Division with a 3-0 home victory over East Grinstead last Tuesday night, will share the new ground with Walton and Hersham FC.
Manager Anthony Gale- our Mitre Manager of the Month for August, in case you had forgotten- and Chairman Tony Gale were both on hand today to participate in the ceremony, and both spoke of their delight at the facility.
They had every reason to be delighted, as it is magnificent, with a capacity of 2,400 including 318 seats, a large bar/function area, six changing rooms, a medical room, boardroom- and secondary grass and 3G pitches for Casuals 35 Junior teams to play on. Oh, and unless Casuals happen to be playing someone like West Ham United you’ll have no worries about parking either, as the car park is enormous.
If you want to see it for yourself and don’t want to wait for a match, then there is an open day on Sunday where you can wander round and admire the entire facility, allow your children to have some fun on a bouncy castle, and have a kick about on the new pitch- including the chance to ‘Beat the Keeper,’ something which Casuals opponents have found rather difficult this season.
