Walton Casuals have signed defender Gradi Milenge from Staines Town.
Milenge, 22, is a central defender and was signed by Staines Town from Harlow Town of the Bostik League at the end of September 2018 and at 6’2”, will be an important acquisition to the back row. He spent last season with Maldon & Tiptree and before that had seven years coming up through the ranks with Brentford, where he picked up a couple of age-group Player of the Year awards and experienced representative football.
He lives in north London and was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Gaffer Anthony Gale has been tracking Milenge for some time and was pleased and to finally get his man:
“I’m delighted to have Gradi on board, he gives us something different to what we currently have in the squad and I think that coming into some very important months of the season, depth is everything. I think he’ll compliment Max and Robb with the qualities they have back there as well as Millsy and Ryheem, we now have good depth across the back four and the ability to play a three if needs be.
“Not just that, but he’s a hungry individual. He wants to better himself, he wants to play at a high level and they’re the type of characteristics that we’re looking for with our footballers. This young man has all the tools and I very much look forward to working with him.”
Subject to league clearance, Milenge will travel with the squad to Poole Town tonight.
