Guiseley midfielder Simon Walton says he is enjoying life at Nethermoor after agreeing a new contract.
The ex Leeds United and Crawley Town man was on non-contract terms during his 11 appearances for the side.
He says it has been a good spell for him with the Lions so far: “I’ve found it enjoyable, it’s been tough at times, we have not got the results we deserved, we have clawed our way back, we were unlucky not to win against Gateshead that would have moved us closer to safety, I’ve been impressed by what Adam Lockwood has done we have some experienced players and I think we will be okay by the end of it.”
He spoke after Guiseley won in a West Riding County Cup game against Albion Sports, where a number of academy players were given a chance, Walton said they showed the team has a good squad: “It was good to play against Albion Sports because I needed some game time, the young lads did well, they showed a good attitude we have a good squad building.”
After getting sent off at the end of a draw against Gateshead the 29 year old will now not be available for a number of weeks, he says he will have to be at his sharpest in training: “This is my first year at a part-time club, I’ll have to make sure I’m ready and looking after myself, the ban has fallen at a bad time, we have played Saturday/Tuesday for so long and my ban is when we have a break, but when I am next available to play I will be ready.”
