Simon Walton is at a loss to explain Maidstone’s desperate home form, Kent Online report.
The Stones have won only one of their 14 league games at the Gallagher Stadium this season and are four points from safety after losing 4-2 to Maidenhead on Tuesday night.
They’ve won FA Cup and FA Trophy ties at home but the 1-0 victory over Barrow last August remains their sole National League success, compared to six on the road.
Joint caretaker boss Walton said: “I think Gareth Southgate would struggle to get us a win at home at the minute to be honest. I’m perplexed.
“All our best performances have come away from home, apart from the cup games.
“I’d be a liar if I stood here and said I know what it is.
“Whether we freeze, whether the atmosphere’s too comfortable coming into a nice dressing room where it’s nice and relaxed, with lovely showers and facilities, I don’t know.”
