Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League side Walton & Hersham FC have announced Gary Taylor as their new manager from the start of next season.
In a statement posted on the club’s Facebook page, chairman Alan Smith said that Simon Haughey will continue as manager, with Paul Thomas and Howard Newton as firs-team coaches, until the end of the current season.
Smith also had this to say:
‘Gary is Hersham “born and bred”, having been a young supporter at our famous cup win at Wembley in 1973. He has been a scout for two professional clubs for a number of years and is extremely well connected with both players and coaches at non-league level. Gary has an excellent reputation for developing young players and will work closely with our own boys and U18s who have enjoyed an excellent first season under Mark Gorman and Danny James. Previously, Gary has been Under 18 Youth Team Manager at Knaphill FC and Football Development Officer at Molesey Juniors for 15 years.
We wish Gary and his team every success for next season and will be arranging a supporter’s night with him during the pre-season.’
