Ware have announced the club have appointed John Dreyer as their new manager.

Dreyer joins the Bostik League North Division side with vast experience in the Football League, first as a player and later as assistant manager to Graham Westley at Stevenage and Preston North End. He has also managed in non-league and was in charge at Maidenhead United when they were promoted to the Conference South.

Ex-Luton Town, Stoke City and Bradford City defender Dreyer had been assisting former England international Kevin Davies at Southport before leaving recently after a couple of months.

Whilst the club’s ambition is to reach new levels in the non-league game, Ware say they are concerned not to lose sight of their local roots. Coming in as Dreyer’s assistant will be former manager Paul Halsey who has managed Hertford and arrives from Hoddesdon.
