EBAC Northern League club Washington FC have announced the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland defender Pascal Chimbonda.
The 38-year-old made the FIFA World Cup final-bound France squad in 2006 after a great debut season in the Premier League with Wigan Athletic. Moving to Spurs for £4.5 million after the tournament, he would switch to Sunderland in 2008 before further top-flight spells with Spurs once more, Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers.
His professional career in England later saw him represent Doncaster Rovers and Carlisle United before he turned out for Northern Premier League Division One South side Market Drayton for free in 2013. This move to Washington sees the Guadeloupe-born player set to feature in the ninth tier, understandably garnering plenty of social media interest already.
