Gosport Borough have taken defender Charlie Wassmer on loan from league rivals Maidenhead United.

The 25-year-old central defender was part of the Margate team which won promotion to the National League South in 2015 before signing for the Magpies in the summer of 2016.

Wassmer started his career at Hayes & Yeading United, working his way through their youth system before breaking into the first team.

His performances caught the eye of Steve Evans at Crawley Town and he moved to the Sussex club when they moved up to the Football League.

After two season with Crawley he returned to non-League football, initially on loan at Fleetwood Town before permanently moving to Cambridge United.

A return spell at Hayes & Yeading followed before his move to Margate.
