York City boss Steve Watson is feeling good about his options on the substitutes bench ahead of their game at Boston United.

As of Thursday, York had a full complement to choose from for the journey to Lincolnshire, for which Watson says he is still going to have to leave “two or three” behind.

Having been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for much of the 2019 portion of the season, Andy Bond has made more appearances off the bench since the December 21 Darlington game. He helped see out Saturday’s 4-2 win over Chester, replacing Kieran Green in the 84th minute.

His experience makes him a valuable player for Watson to have in reserve, as does his versatility – a virtue the York boss sees in a number of his players.

“Everybody played their part (in the Chester win),” Watson said.

“I thought what was good was we saw the game out well.

“Andy Bond came on and was a calming influence. He hasn’t featured much. He had a fantastic first half of the season.”
