Paul Webster has been appointed Chief Executive Officer at Heybridge Swifts.
The Chelmsford-based businessman, 52, has been brought in to increase attendances from the already terrific 206 average at the Aspen Waite Arena this season. Webster – who was CEO at Bostik Premier title-cashing Billericay Town this season, and has also previously held a non executive role at National League South Chelmsford City – will also be tasked with boosting sponsorship and revenue opportunities at the Bostik North promotion hopefuls.
He said: “There is a massive opportunity here to galvanise business and social opportunities. We already have great sponsors on board and we plan to add more.
“And I want to give them more back for their support than just the standard advertising boards around the ground. I want to help put a community programme in place that will be heavily based on working with local schools, and a key target is to upgrade the facilities here and make them available for free use by the community.
“We want businesses to help fund these projects in return for attractive packages at the club, and we want them to become a big part of an exciting future here.”
Swifts chairman Gary White confirmed Webster’s new role will be ratified at the club’s AGM in June.
He added: “Paul will be working with me and the rest of the committee to generate additional commercial revenue so we can make sure this brilliant season is not just a once off, but propels us to the next level in football and helps to keep us financially sustainable.
“He made some great progress at Billericay under difficult circumstances at times and he brings with him a good deal of experience, drive and ability at this crucial and pivotal stage in the history of Heybridge Swifts.
“Paul will be looking to build strong relationship with the business and social community within the Heybridge and Maldon area and I am sure you will all join me in wishing him every success in this role.”
