New Chesterfield manager Martin Allen has been busy reshaping his squad, with three vastly experienced captures announced yesterday.

Wrexham midfielder Sam Wedgbury, Macclesfield Town goalkeeper Shwan Jalal and Barnet defender Michael Nelson were all announced as Spireites signings yesterday. Wedgbury had opted to leave Wrexham after years of commuting from his Sheffield base, with the 29-year-old handing back his contract signing-on fee.

Jalal had been part of the Macclesfield squad that secured promotion back to the EFL, while Nelson, 38, had been with manager Allen at Barnet last season in League Two.
