Luke Young admits it was a relief to end the run of defeats but the midfielder says Wrexham won’t get carried away and need to build on Saturday’s success over Maidenhead United, The Leader report.

Substitute Young got the winner as Wrexham beat the Magpies 1-0 to end a five-game losing sequence and register a first victory – and goal – of 2019.

Despite the poor recent form, Wrexham have remained among the leading pack and the Reds head into his weekend’s clash at Boreham Wood still four points behind leaders Leyton Orient, with Young looking for another positive result.

“We haven’t scored in so many games so to get that goal is a relief,” said Young.

“We know when we go ahead in games that we are going to be very hard to beat and we have got that mentality that we want to win the game.

“We have got to build on this now so we go into next week confident; not getting too carried away because it is only one game but hopefully we can get back to back wins and get back to where we need to be.”
