Experienced midfielder Richie Wellens is looking forward to getting more game time under his belt after making his debut on Saturday.

The 36-year-old came off the bench in the 80 minute as the Silkmen slipped to a late defeat.

Speaking after the Bromley game he said: “I’ve been out injured for about four weeks and I’ve been back in training for around 10 days-two weeks so I’m just looking forward to getting minutes on the pitch.”

“You can do all the training you want it’s about getting the minutes on the pitch that matters.”

Wellens also revealed that he has been told that he will feature in tonight’s FA Trophy match away at Altrincham.

“The gaffer spoke to me on Friday and said I will be playing in that game and like I said it’s about getting minutes on the pitch and not on the training ground so I’m looking forward to getting as many minutes as possible and to try and win the game,” he added.
