Welling United have signed centre-back Rob Swaine from Maidstone United.

Swaine was Bromley captain under Mark Goldberg in his four-year spell at Bromley, reaching the play-offs in his first season and leading the team to promotion as Conference South champions the following year. He then led the team in the National League.

Swaine, 31, made 17 appearances for The Stones in the Vanarama National League last season, having joined them mid-way through the season. He has also played for the likes of Chelmsford City and Billericay Town in the past.

On joining Welling, Swaine said:

“Welling is a club I’ve known about for a long time and were unfortunate not to get promoted last season. I’ve worked and been successful with Mark (Goldberg) and Hugo (Langton) before so I’m very happy to be on board. Last season was a bit of a disappointment for me, despite playing well personally.”
