The 20-year-old was snapped up by Moors a year ago whilst playing for Loughborough University in the Midland League. A former Chelsea Academy player, “Dapo” had widened his football education in Canada with Toronto before returning to England to complete his studies.

In his debut for Solihull he came on in the 66th minute at home to Sutton United and almost immediately notched his first goal for the club. Since then he has scored 16 goals in 38 appearances.

Last summer he became the first ever Solihull Moors player to join the Jamie Vardy V7 Football Academy, which has seen a steady uptake of the initial 42 players into the Football league. It is no surprise that Afolayan, who has probably attracted as much interest from bigger clubs as any Moors player, now joins that Vardy list of hopefuls who have made it into the big time.
