Weston-super-Mare boss Marc McGregor has hit out at Hereford for not conducting their advances for Danny Greenslade ‘in the right way’.
The left-back joined the Bulls a fortnight ago, much to the disappointment of Weston fans – although McGregor is confident he can fill the void with a player of equal quality.
But the Weston boss made clear his unhappiness with how the National League North side – who unsuccessfully bid for the 24-year-old’s services midway through last season – conducted their efforts to secure the former Bristol Rovers prospect’s signature.
Speaking at a fans forum on Sunday, he said: “It was a strange situation.
“Hereford came in for him, and didn’t do it in the right way by the way, and turned him with a lot more money.
“I don’t believe in paying your left-back all the money you’ve got at a football club – that’s not someone who should be taking all of your budget.
“He was very good and did brilliantly for us, but the style of football will prove difficult for him.
“He likes to get forward and he was allowed to do that with us, but Hereford have just signed another left-back who will play left midfield, and that’s probably going to stunt what he wants to do.”
