Weston-super-Mare defender Danny Greenslade has decided to remain at the Woodspring Stadium, amid interest from an unnamed Southern League Premier club this week.
eft-back Greenslade has become a stalwart for the Seagulls since joining from Bristol Rovers on loan midway through last season.
But Weston boss Marc McGregor told the Mercury the 23-year-old – who has started every National League South game this season after making his move permanent in the summer – was subject to a lucrative contract offer from a team in the tier below.
And the fan-favourite, who has scored once in his 30 games for the Seagulls, has opted to remain in BS24.
McGregor said: “It was a tough week for us; we had an approach for Danny Greenslade from a club in the league below, but in a financial position where they can pay more for players.
“Danny’s a winner and for footballing reasons he’s decided to stay with us. He has aspirations of getting back into the Football League and it’s easier for him to move forwards with Weston.”
