Weston-super-Mare say their first round FA Trophy tie with Truro City is set to take place at Truro’s Treyew Road.
The White Tigers have been groundsharing with Torquay United this season, but are due to return home in the near future. Weston-super-Mare have released the following statement on a decision to stage the game that will cause significant upheaval for their supporters:
‘The Club have been informed by the FA that the tie will now be played at Truro City FC, Treyew Road, providing it meets National Grading E grade.
This is the lowest grade that can stage the tie. It is not yet known when an inspection of the facilities will take place but the deadline is Thursday 13th December.
We have objected to the move on the grounds that our supporters will have an additional 200 mile journey and that the Torquay Utd ground was an excellent venue for the tie. However, the decision has been made.
Should the ground not meet the appropriate grading, the match will revert to Plainmoor, Torquay.
Further announcements will be made as and when we are notified by the FA.’
