Newly-installed Wisbech Town manager Brett Whaley has made his first new signing and has also persuaded another player to return to help in the Fenmen’s relegation battle.

Sam Murphy re-joins his hometown club after half a season with UCL side Deeping Rangers. The 27-year-old has over 170 appearances for the Fenmen over the last nine seasons, with a spell at Spalding United also on his CV.

Beckham Kennelly, a 20-year-old defender, made the decision last month to try his luck with Step 3 side St Ives Town but found his opportunities limited, and he has now committed himself to the Fenmen for the rest of the season.
