Yaxley FC have announced the appointment of Brett Whaley and Andy Furnell as First Team Manager and Assistant Manager respectively for the remainder of the 2015-16 season, 2016-17 and hopefully beyond.
President Jeff Lenton says “Brett has made it abundantly clear to the club that he made a big mistake in leaving us to join Wisbech Town. At a meeting of committee members and sponsors, Brett was seriously grilled for more than 90 minutes and to his credit gave an good account of himself, historical events and future ambitions, if he hadn’t he wouldn’t be back.
Ferns is very happy to work with Brett and it’s a partnership that we as a club are confident has a good chance of success.”
Brett Whaley said “It’s been a very busy few days, but I’m delighted to be back and that everything has been resolved so quickly. Leaving the club was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make and a decision that didn’t work out.
I feel I’ve learnt a lot this season, and I’m really determined to have success here. The club has continued to grow in the short time I’ve been away and the next few weeks are really important in preparing for next season. I can’t wait to get started!”
Lenton added “Brett has come back with a renewed hunger and much tougher attitude that we trust will give us a positive run-in for the end of this season. We also intend to send strong signals about our intentions for the future.
Saturday saw some true grit individual performances that pulled the whole team through when most would have not unreasonably expected a collapse. We’re delighted to bring Brett back into the fold and extremely grateful to Ian Benjamin for taking on a very difficult job, he won a lot of friends here at In2itive Park and will always be welcome”
The new management team will be in charge for tomorrows away trip to an improving Northampton Spencer side.
