Vanarama National league North champions Solihull Moors have announced the appointment of Gary Whild as their new assistant manager.
Whild has vast experience of non-league’s top flight following his time with Kidderminster Harriers F.C. between 2010 and 2015, firstly as Assistant Manager to Steve Burr, between 2010 and 2014, then as outright number one when he took over the reins following Burr’s departure.
His record at the top level of non-league football speaks for itself, with just two defeats in 25 games as Manager and with the team in the play-off positions until financial issues at the club forced the sale of 3 of their best players, his vast experience and knowledge of what it takes to compete at this level will be vital as The Moors look to establish themselves as a National League team.
Whild said of his appointment, “After enjoying a successful time at Kidderminster Harriers F.C. I’m looking forward to working with a young, bright, ambitious Manager and I intend to help him and the club in any way possible. I’ve known Marcus for a while and I’m confident that I can help him to establish Solihull Moors F.C. in the National League”
Moors Manager, Marcus Bignot commented “I am delighted that we have been given the opportunity to further develop the infrastructure at the club by appointing Gary Whild in a full time capacity to the management team here at Solihull Moors.
In order to develop and prepare the club for the transition into the National League and for what is expected and required at that level, having Gary on board will benefit everyone concerned, including myself, the staff and the players, that’s how good I believe he is !”
Following Whild’s arrival, Simon Redhead will now focus more on the role of ‘Football Operations’ within the club.
