Stalybridge Celtic and Whitby Town’s Evo-Stik Premier Division game last night resembled an inter-club friendly.

That was because visiting Whitby had to play the match in Stalybridge’s away strip after what the home side described as ‘a mix-up with the away kit.’

In the end, Celtic were beaten 1-0, with the visitors’ goal coming a few minutes from time through Matthew Tymon’s header. Dale Hopson had also missed a penalty for Whitby on 70 minutes.

It was hard to take for the hosts, as they battled with ten men following Ross Dent’s dismissal on 25 minutes.
