Just six days ago, Wealdstone manager Bobby Wilkinson was wondering what else could go wrong.
His new club were without a win since the first day of the season and last Tuesday they were thrashed 5-1 at an equally out of form Weston Super Mare.
Fast forward a week and it’s two wins and seven goals and Grosvenor Vale seems a much different place.
The Stones’ 4-1 win over Poole Town on Monday night was fully justified and the manager is suddenly excited about what the next few months holds.
Wilkinson never lost belief and was thrilled by what he saw from his team. They were too good for Poole and their third first half goals inside eight minutes showed the quality the new boss has at his disposal.
He said: “A week is a very long time in football and I think this proves that theory right.
“We said this was a crucial 48 hours for the club and after a good win over Bognor on Saturday we followed it up with another excellent performance.
“It’s all about the players, it’s all down to them. We spoke after the Weston disaster and we moved forward together.
“We wanted two home wins to lift the place and lift ourselves and I think we have achieved that. We can look forward now.
“It was a good night for us. The atmosphere was fantastic again and the fans are buying into what we are trying to do.
“It’s positive but it’s all down to the players – they have responded magnificently.”
