Vanarama National League South club Torquay United have announced that striker Brett Williams has left after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Thirty-one-year-old Williams signed for the Gulls in the summer of 2016 and found his stride late in the season to score 11 goals to steer United clear of relegation trouble.

United’s season came to a head against Dover Athletic and Williams found the net twice to help United clinch survival.

Williams then left the club to sign for Bromley but returned in January 2018 on loan until the end of the season.

He signed on a permanent basis for the second time in the summer of 2017 and then joined National League outfit Sutton United on a one-month loan deal in December 2018.
