Wimborne Town were celebrating last night after securing success in the Dorset Senior Cup.
That was earned with an emphatic 7-0 win over Shaftesbury at the County Ground in which Toby Holmes struck a hat-trick for the Evo-Stik South West side.
This win ended a long wait to win the trophy for the club, with their last success coming 21 years ago. Manager Matty Holmes had told The Bournemouth Echo:
“If the boys turn up on the night and have a real go, we have a great chance of winning.
“It’s a case of getting themselves up for the challenge and rising to the occasion, which I hope they do because we have a lot of Wimborne supporters and our youth sides coming to watch.”
