It’s party time in the Barratt household, former Woodley United and Bracknell Town winger Sam Barratt has signed a professional contract.
After three seasons with Maidenhead United where he picked up a National League South winners medal, Barratt has signed forms with EFL League One side Southend United.
According to the Southend Echo, Shrimpers boss Chris Powell was keen to sign a new winger following the decision to release Jermaine McGlashan – coincidentally a player with ties to Bracknell after a loan spell with the Robins in the Southern League.
Barratt announced the news on Facebook and is a dream come true for the youngster who had pledged to make it as a professional footballer. He had previously had trials at Bristol Rovers and Crystal Palace.
