Ebac Northern League club Morpeth Town have confirmed that winger Luke Carr has returned to the club.
Carr made three appearances for the Highwaymen last season before moving to Australia in January.
During his time Down Under he played for Brisbane Premier League club Holland Park Hawks, but now he returns to Craik Park and to the club where he won the FA Vase in 2016.
Speaking to the club’s official website Carr said “I’m buzzing to be back.
“When I knew I was coming home, there was only one team that I wanted to play for.
“The lads came very close to winning the league last year, and were unlucky not to get a few trophies. Hopefully, this year, we can go all the way.
“Personally, I’d like a minimum of 15 goals with even more assists. In terms of the team, I’m expecting us to emulate South Shields and do a clean sweep this year.”
Joint-manager Nick Gray welcomes Carr back into his squad for the new season and knows what he offers.
In the 2015/16 season Carr scored sixteen goals in forty seven appearances and scored their second goal in the 4-1 FA Vase Final win over Hereford FC.
Gray spoke of his new signing saying “It’s great to see Luke back. He’s a great lad, who’s good to have around the squad. Things are never boring when he’s about.
“On his day, he’s one of the best players in the league, and on other days, he’s the most frustrating player in the league. But we’re all happy to have him back.”
The Highwaymen are one of the favourites to win the Northern League Division One title this season and kick off their pre-season campaign with an away game at SPFL League Two club Berwick Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
