Woking have made a statement to supporters after home fans were held back in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash against Torquay United.

The Vanarama National League South game ended 3-3, with the visiting Gulls striking twice late on to rescue a point and close in on the title. Woking have said the following:

The club are aware that the decision to hold back home fans at Saturday’s game against Torquay was intensely frustrating and inconvenient for Woking supporters. This was not in any way a club decision but an operational choice by the Police on the day. There is always a review of every game and the club and fans’ views will be fully part of that review. We thank all Woking fans for their patience and restraint on the day.

The club will cooperate fully with any investigation into fan disorder at the game by making all the video and photo material we have available so that individuals can be identified.

Thank you once more for the fantastic support from Woking fans yesterday – and throughout the season.
