After over 50-year service for Woking Football Club, Derek Powell has retired from his role as football secretary.

Director of football Geoff Chapple said: “Derek has been connected with the club since the early 1960s, when he was a member of the Woking Supporters Club. He has done a multitude of jobs over the years, most recently as football secretary since the passing of Phil Ledger, and as assistant secretary for many years before that.

“In the early years he served the Supporters Club as catering manager and treasurer. A truly wonderful contribution to Woking Football Club spanning some 50 odd years.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Derek for all he has done for the Cards, and wish him well in his retirement.”

Meanwhile, following a restructure, commercial manager Nicky Banger, has left Woking with immediate effect.
