Striker Gozie Ugwu is back in the Football League after a successful campaign with Woking.

Ugwu scored 21 goals in forty-nine appearances for the Cards in 2016/17, and now the 24-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Chesterfield, who were relegated from Sky Bet League One at the end of the season.

Ugwu had two spells with Yeovil Town – once as a Reading loanee during the first half of the 2012/13 season, then as a permanent signing during the second half of the 2014/15 season shortly after he left Dunfermline.

After he was released by the Glovers in the summer of 2015, he spent a year with Wycombe Wanderers before dropping into the National League.

Last year’s spell with the Cards was his most prolific one and put that down to playing regular football.

Ugwu said upon signing: “I needed that opportunity to play regularly because I know I can score goals,” he said. “I’m quick, I can play with my back to goal and I like to feed off crosses. I know I’m not the finished product and I’m eager to learn and improve”.
