Surrey Live say that Ben Gerring’s message to Woking fans is “judge me in 10 games” as he bids to get match fit for the club’s promotion tilt.

The 27-year-old central defender has signed a one-year deal after switching from Billericay who he joined in the summer following a switch from Truro City, where he was captain last season. But injury and suspension scuppered his hopes in Essex and he went back to Truro on loan for four games, before Woking boss Alan Dowson swooped.

“The season is well underway and there’s no question I am behind. Certainly on match fitness. I literally have to find something within the pitch, for myself, and dig in and get the minutes as I go.

“When I’m fully fit that’s what I would like to be dealing with [strong players]. And that’s what I can take the sting out of , if you like, against big strong sides.”
