Spennymoor Town keeper Dan Lowson isn’t the only Evo-Stik Northern Premier League star who’s been basking in the glory of seeing his goalscoring exploits in The Emirates FA Cup beamed around the world this week.
While the Moors keeper’s 80-yard free-kick in his side’s 5-3 win over Radcliffe Borough on Saturday went viral within hours, Stourbridge midfielder Tom Tonks has been doing his bit to put The Glassboys and the Evo-Stik NPL on football’s map with his own stunner.
Away at Peterborough Sports in the Cup’s First Qualifying Round, the former Halesowen Town, AFC Telford, Brocton and Tipton Town player scored an unbelievable 50-yard Beckham-esque goal to help his team come from behind and run out 3-1 winners.
Lowson’s wasn’t not the only wonder-goal from a keeper on last weekend’s Non League Day 2016. In the National League South Dartford stopper Deren Ibrahim lashed the ball home from a more modest distance of around 70 yards to help his side to a 2-0 win over Hungerford Town.
