Striker Joe Lumsden will not be joining Scarborough Athletic for the 2019-20 campaign due to his work commitments, which mean that he can’t play midweek.
The frontman, who was set to seal a move from Tadcaster, is unable to commit to playing week in-week out for Boro due to an alteration in his work situation.
He has since opted to switch to Pontefract, who play in the division below.
Boss John Deacey said: “I spoke to Joe and he said that because of work commitments, which will mean him travelling around the Europe, he won’t be able to play in midweek.
“Since then he has joined Pontefract, so he’ll just be featuring for them when he’s able.”
Deacey was delighted with the first pre-season training session on Tuesday night, with young former Middlesbrough midfielder Kian Spence being one of the players to stand out.
He added: “There were an awful lot of positives from Tuesday. The lads all looked fit, sharp and hungry.
“I was very impressed with young Kian and we’ll continue to look at him over the next few weeks.”
