Carlisle United midfielder Jordan Holt has joined local side Workington AFC on a one-month loan deal.

Holt, 19, signed his second senior contract ahead of the new season when he committed to the Blues on a six-month contract which keeps him at Brunton Park until the January transfer window. No stranger to Borough Park, he joined the West Cumbrian side at the end of August last season and received nothing but praise for his committed performances through what developed into a three-month spell.

He was part of the team which embarked on an amazing 17-game unbeaten run in all competitions ahead of the turn of that year. He returned on a half-season deal when the transfer window reopened in January last year and made over 40 appearances through his successful stay.

Manager John Sheridan said: “We know from what we heard last season that Workington think a lot of Jordan and we also know they’ll look after him.

“He wants to be playing competitive football and this is a good chance for him to be able to do that. He’ll have to work hard at what is a good level, and we’ll be able to monitor his progress as he goes through his month down there. It’s a move that benefits all parties.”

The young playmaker came through the United ranks to earn a one-year professional development contract, in May 2017, having made his first team debut in the Checkatrade Trophy group game against Fleetwood Town the previous season.
