Wrexham’s new executive director Humphrey Ker says the club are out to ‘super-charge’ the link with the town and community.
The actor, comedian and writer is a friend of new owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and worked with McElhenney on the series Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet.
As executive director, Ker has been described as the pair’s ‘voice on the ground’ at the National League outfit.
He has told the club’s website: “What we wanted was somewhere with a big link between the club and the fans. All clubs do, of course, but some have more than others, and the link here feels so strong.
“The thing that we just kept coming back to was the fact, even at Wrexham’s lowest ever point last season, there were still 4,500 supporters coming through the gates to watch matches. It became so clear that Wrexham was the place we wanted to be.
“The fascination from the very start has been the strong link between the club and the town, and the club and community. Our goal is to super-charge that link, and increase Wrexham AFC as an asset to the wider town and community.
“I’ve already become very fond of, and very passionate about, both Wrexham as a football club and as a town.”
He also said of the aim in terms of league standing: “We’re at the start of this journey. If I was being very confident, I would say our expectation is to get to League One and to thrive in League One at the very least.”
