Wrexham have confirmed the appointment of former Wales international and Premier League defender Sam Ricketts as their new manager.
The 36-year-old played for Hull City and Bolton Wanderers in the top flight, making almost 100 appearances at the highest level. Starting out at Oxford United, Aylesbury-born Ricketts began to make his name at Swansea City between 2004 and 2006.
A one-time England C international, he went on to represent Wales on 52 occasions. Ricketts replaces Dean Keates, who left for his hometown Walsall back in March.
Since then, Andy Davies has been in caretaker charge. What threatened to be a successful season for the Dragons eventually dwindled, with the side finishing 10th in the Vanarama National League.
