Dean Keates revealed he was confident of bringing in one or two new recruits to his Wrexham squad before the Dragons were next back in National League action, but gave a disappointing update on injury victim James Horsfield.

Wrexham head to Ibrox on Saturday to take on Rangers Colts in the SPFL Challenge Cup quarter-final before facing League One side Rochdale just three days later in an FA Cup first round replay.

Their next National League encounter comes a week on Saturday as the Dragons entertain Yeovil Town, who are currently second in the standings, with the manager hopeful of having fresh faces to call upon by then.

“We are working away,” said Keates . “It has been hard with the FA Cup, it is a bit of a stumbling block because players can be cup tied and whatnot.”

“Also nothing changes going into the Rochdale game, whatever team was available (for the first game) has to be in the replay, but I’d like to think we might get one or two in ready to go before Yeovil.”
