Maidenhead United loan striker Mike Fondop has told the Maidenhead Advertiser he would be open to remaining with the club.

On Good Friday, he was the hero, bullying the Barrow backline before scoring a slick equaliser in the Magpies’ 1-1 draw at York Road.

But on Monday afternoon he was the Magpies’ fall guy, giving away a first-half penalty which handed the initiative to Eastleigh for a 2-0 win.

Fondop will return to North Wales in the summer to see out the remainder of his contract with Wrexham, but he’s enjoyed his time with Maidenhead and wouldn’t be averse to the prospect of playing for them again next season.

“As a striker I’m still counting my goals to the end of the season,” he said. “I’ll give it everything to the last whistle.

“I’ve still got another year with Wrexham. I never know what’s going to happen in the future.”
