Dean Keates admits he would be “surprised” if the suspension of the National League season was not extended.

The National League campaign has been halted until April 3 at the earliest because of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Premier League and EFL have delayed resuming their seasons until April 30 at the earliest, and an update on the situation for National League clubs is expected following a meeting today.

But Keates does not expect Wrexham, battling to avoid relegation from the fifth tier, to resume playing at the start of next month.

“I imagine we will find out more information regarding our division,” said Keates.

“Without trying to read between the lines, with what is coming out from the Government and the possibility of the whole country going into lockdown shortly, I would be surprised if our league starts up again on April 3.”
