Sam Ricketts is hoping for positive answers from transfer targets as he attempts to add to his Wrexham squad.

Ricketts has only made one new signing since he was appointed Reds boss in May with midfielder Luke Young putting pen to paper on a two-year deal after leaving Torquay United.

That leaves Ricketts with 12 players until contract for the 2018-19 campaign and the former Wales international admits he would like an 18 or 19 man squad for Wrexham’s 11 season in non-league.

With the emphasis on quality rather than quantity, offers have been made to a number of players and Ricketts is waiting on decisions.

When asked whether he expects to announce any new signings this week, Ricketts said: “I would like to think so although I can’t guarantee anything.

“There are offers in for players, I am just trying to get one or two of them over the line if we can.

“The quality players I am after are obviously getting interest from other places including league clubs and that is probably why they are taking their time.”
