Akil Wright knows he needs to chip in with a few goals this season for Wrexham, but adds he does not have any kind of goal celebration planned.
Wright signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Wrexham earlier in the month for an undisclosed fee from League One side Fleetwood Town after impressing Dragons boss Dean Keates during a six-month loan spell. After initially arriving at the Racecourse in July, the 21-year-old midfielder candidly admitted he was not best known for his goalscoring prowess, something that has been proven as the box-to-box style is yet to hit the back of the net this term.
But Wright, who was laid low with an ankle injury for the majority of the festive period, has set his sights on breaking his duck.
“That (not scoring) is annoying to be fair,” said Wright. “As a midfielder you want to be scoring a lot of goals, the best ones do that, you know the likes of (Frank) Lampard and (Steven) Gerrard, they all score goals.
“So I need to start doing that as well, but it is a New Year, hopefully I can rack up a few goals before the season ends.”
