Sam Ricketts has told Wrexham supporters to expect new arrivals ‘at any moment’ as his threadbare squad reports back for pre-season.

The Reds are back in training on Monday with just 12 players currently under contract, including defenders Shaun Pearson, Manny Smith and James Jennings, with academy graduate Doug Tharme also expected to sign pro terms.

However, Reds fans are growing increasingly anxious about the lack of transfer activity at The Racecourse, especially in the wake of excellent season ticket sales, with 1,981 tickets sold in the 34 days since they went on sale.

“Just the one new face so far but potential signings coming in at any moment,” said Ricketts, who appears to have fended off any potential interest in centre-half pair Smith and Pearson, his skipper.

“There are offers in for a few, I am trying to fight with a few league clubs for a couple. It is a work in progress but a few will probably be well into pre-season loan-wise.”
