Chris Holroyd admits it was a “great decision” to join Wrexham and he would love to extend his stay at The Racecourse.

The striker joined from Macclesfield Town, where he spent four seasons, last summer and put pen to paper on a one year deal. It has been a successful switch with Wrexham challenging for promotion and Holroyd the leading scorer with 13 goals.

The 31-year-old revealed he has held talks with manager Dean Keates about a new contract and he would like to continue his spell with the Reds.

“I have really enjoyed my time here this year, it has been brilliant,” said Holroyd. “It was a tough decision last summer to leave Macclesfield but looking back it has been a great decision.

“I have loved it here, the fans are brilliant, the lads are brilliant, the manager has been brilliant with me and I would say it is somewhere I have enjoyed my football most in my career.

“I have had a brief chat with the manager and I would love to stay here.”
