Sam Ricketts is looking forward to “two really good tests” this week as Wrexham complete their pre-season programme.

Wrexham face Macclesfield Town, who were promoted as National League champions last term, at Moss Rose tonight and entertain fellow League Two outfit Forest Green at The Racecourse on Saturday.

“Two really good games for us to keep learning and developing,” said Ricketts, who will again give some players a full game at Macclesfield with the new season starting is less than a fortnight.

“Every training session and every game we are learning more and seeing what the team needs, what the team doesn’t need, and what they need to work on a little bit.

“We want really good tests going into the season and these two games will be really good tests.

“Macclesfield are a team that got promoted last year, albeit under a different manager, and it will be different personnel player wise as well.

“But they achieved what we are setting out to try and achieve so it is good to play against these people.”
