Sam Ricketts has welcomed playing back-to-back matches on 4G pitches.

Wrexham face Sutton United at Gander Green Lane on Saturday before another clash on the artificial playing surface at leaders Harrogate Town next Tuesday. Although he is against playing games on 4G pitches, Ricketts believes having two in quick succession will benefit his side.

“I think it is a good thing,” said Ricketts. “You are getting them out of the way and if you are playing on 4G on the Saturday, to go again on the Tuesday you should hopefully be a little bit more conducive to it.

“I don’t like 4G but you just have to deal with it.”

The Wrexham players will get a feel for artificial pitches before the fixture with Sutton.

“We will train on 4G before the weekend,” said Ricketts. “But the problem with 4G is that they are not all the same.”
