Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Warrington Town have honoured skipper James McCarten for his long service through some of the greatest seasons in the Northern Premier League club’s history.

Signed in 2012 from Welsh Premier League side Aberystwyth Town, the longest serving player at Cantilever Park played a key role in the club’s headline-making run to the second round of the Emirates FA Cup during the 2014-15 campaign and lifting the Integro League Cup the same season.

A near permanent fixture at the heart of defence, the 26-year-old defender and former Everton U18s ‘Player of the Year’ helped the Yellows amass a record-breaking points total of 106 last term to march to the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North title and promotion to the top flight.

Warrington Town’s fans can look forward to celebrating the success of their 1987 FA Vase Final side later this year after Warrington’s chairman tweeted news on Tuesday for a 30th anniversary reunion of former players and staff from the Wembley side.
