York City have placed the club’s players and staff on furlough.

The National League North club say they have made the decision as a result of the Step 2 season being recently declared null and void.

Steve Watson’s side were 8th in the table, a point outside the play-offs, but had as many as five games in hand on some of the teams above them.

Despite the furlough announcement, York’s academy will continue to run on a full-time basis, with scholars continuing to receive their academic education.
