York City have said they will ‘seek further information and clarity regarding the National League’s funding allocations’.
A club statement begins: “As a club, we welcome this vital National Lottery grant aid from the government. During this time of economic uncertainty, we recognise that we are lucky to receive funding and are incredibly grateful.
“However, we have a duty to our club to ensure that the funding allocation for York City Football Club is fair and appropriate.
“The board is concerned that the funding allocated to York City FC does not meet the intended objective, to compensate for loss of income from matchday ticket sales, and is not commensurable with funding received by other clubs.”
