The 72 say that the possible sale of Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey to Manchester United this summer could net the player’s former club York City a huge windfall of up to £1 million.

The 21-year-old York-born midfielder, who has now been converted to a centre-back, has excelled in the Sky Bet Championship with The Canaries this season following an impressive loan spell with third tier club Shrewsbury Town last term.

Godfrey has made 34 appearances for Norwich City in all competitions this season while he has contributed four goals as Norfolk outfit continue to chase a return to the English Premier League after a three-year absence.
