Manager Steve Watson has insisted everybody at York City needs “to be on the same page” – fans as well as players.

Leaders of the very early National League North table, York will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday at home to Leamington (3pm).

Watson also spoke very highly of versatile danger man Alex Kempster, who got his first league goal on Tuesday night in the 3-0 win at Blyth Spartans.

And the City chief is confident his squad is capable of dealing with Leamington, even if the Brakes prove as stubborn opposition as previous visitors to Bootham Crescent.

“At home, everybody’s got a part to play, including the supporters,” he said. “I think the atmosphere at home can be a lot better.

“I thought it was very quiet against Brackley.”
